Today Warner Bros. Consumer products announced that it is partnering with Toybox 3D printer to allow consumers to print their own assortment of toys and action figures. The initial assortment will include replica props and action figures for DC Comics, Looney Tunes, Seinfeld, and other properties and characters.

Once enjoyed by a relative few, 3D printing has made its way from big corporations to personal use. It’s certainly impacted the toy industry with companies such as Mattel partnering with tech companies to produce new toys incorporating 3D printing technology.

3D printing technology has also been a boon to toy customizers and amateur producers, who now have the ability to model and create — and even mass-produce — their own unique pieces without having to rely on outside manufacturers. With decent quality 3D printers now available for home use for less than $300, it’s an interesting time for the toy community for sure.
